This photograph explores the simplicity of an everyday setting through unexpected colour. The subject is one of the coastal shacks dotted throughout the suburb of Falcon, Western Australia. A place that might otherwise feel familiar is transformed through the use of red scale film, shifting the scene into something more ambiguous. What was once an ordinary neighbouring home takes on a different story, as an eerie atmosphere settles over the image. The viewer is left to reconcile the familiarity of the setting with the quiet sense that something isn’t quite right.
