Anomaly: Out of Place

A Group Exhibition by Kindred Cameras

14th Mar–24th Mar 2026 | Opening Night Friday 13th Mar 6–8 pm

Anomaly: Out of Place brings together artists whose work sits just outside the expected. This exhibition gathers pieces that resist neat categorisation, lean into irregularity, or feel slightly misaligned with their surroundings.

An anomaly might emerge through process, material, subject, or approach. It may be found in experimental or alternative techniques, in unexpected combinations of form, or in quiet disruptions that unsettle familiar patterns. Some works may appear subtly displaced; others may challenge convention more directly.

Rather than seeking spectacle, this exhibition honours the gentle deviation, the unresolved detail, the work that does not quite belong yet insists on being seen. Anomaly: Out of Place invites viewers to linger with what feels different, and to consider the beauty held in misfit and divergence.

Upcoming Exhibitions

As it was, as they were

Artwork by Matthew Jones

11th-21st Apr 2026 | Opening Night Friday 11th Apr 6–8 pm

A selection of photographs captured across different times, mediums and experimental approaches. The works loosely explore existence through everyday moments, imperfections, beauty found in the ordinary and ordinary found in the beauty. Some images connect naturally, most clash. Seen together they show a raw and fragmented rhythm of everyday life.

Optimistic Nihilism: Nature’s Imitations

by Sionainne Costello

25th Apr–5th May 2026 | Opening Night Friday 24th Apr 6–8 pm

This exhibition explores the theme of mimicry and imitation in nature, revealing unexpected connections between the microscopic, the human, and the cosmic. Through a series of comparative images, the work examines how patterns, forms and structures recur across different scales of existence—from molecular arrangements invisible to the naked eye to life-size phenomena that we encounter in our daily environment. By juxtaposing natural and human-made forms, the exhibition illuminates the surprising ways in which visual and structural echoes appear throughout the world, prompting reflection on both the complexity and the simplicity inherent in nature’s design.

Building upon the themes of interconnection, perception, and human experience developed in my Optimistic Nihilism project, this body of work investigates the resonance between seemingly disparate systems. From the cellular level of algae and skin to the sweeping patterns of rivers, salt lakes and planetary surfaces, each image encourages viewers to trace visual links across scales and contexts. By highlighting the poetic mimicry that threads through the natural and cosmic realms, the exhibition invites a reconsideration of how we perceive our place within the interconnected web of existence, revealing the underlying harmony and repetition that links all forms of life and matter.

Noesis: In Visual Absence a Formula Emerges

by Peta Louise Tranquille

9th–19th May 2026 | Opening Night Friday 8th May 6–8 pm

Noesis takes its title from the philosophical term for intellectual knowing — understanding that exists independently of sensory perception. The exhibition is grounded in the artist’s lived experience of aphantasia, where mental imagery is absent. When memory is accessed through photographs, what persists most clearly are objects rather than scenes; however, narrative remains central, formed through reasoning, association, and contextual understanding rather than visual replay.

In the absence of mental imagery, memory is supported through logic, structure, and the development of personal formulas that assist in retaining and organising information. Rather than representing memory as an internal image, the works draw on the language of puzzles, cubes, squares, and systems — forms that rely on rules, relationships, and resolution. Like narrative itself, these systems are constructed over time, assembled from parts rather than revealed as a whole.

Grids, modular units, and repeated elements recur throughout the exhibition, reflecting how memory is held in fragments, reordered, and, sometimes, misaligned. Objects recalled from photographs act as anchors within these systems, providing fixed points around which narrative can be inferred, structured, and sustained, even when visual continuity is absent.

At its core, Noesis proposes memory as an active, constructed process rather than a stable image. It suggests that understanding can be systematic, narrative-driven, and reasoned; that formulas can support recall where imagery cannot and that knowing does not depend on seeing.

Rhy Dyball & George Jefford

23rd May - 2nd June 2026 | Opening Night Friday 22nd May 6–8 pm

The world we live in has become hostile despite our efforts, creating a psychological uprising of uncertainty and dread. The world is consistently changing and developing, and so are people’s views. We are becoming more and more individualistic, disoriented by the oversaturation of choice we have forced upon us.

The triumph of the individual is no longer an ideal to strive for, but a harsh reality we are struck by. Our brains are busy with fears that cannot be unburdened. Creating a foreboding feeling of anxiety and stress that looms over us. This tension, uncertainty, and dread are what we are exploring in our imagery.

These two series will explore those ideas of what has been left after the individual ‘triumphs’ – the commonplace, insidious, everyday horrors that squeeze into the gaps in our lives, gnawing away, tunnelling in, until they blend in.
