Ana is an artist and educator who thrives on the act of creation itself. With an experimental approach to her practice, she explores an eclectic selection of mediums to express rather abstract ideas, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, performance and installation. She sees art as a form of registration and manipulation of life, believing that creativity is available to anyone in different forms and shapes. In her home country, Colombia, Ana exhibited for the first time as a solo artist when she was 18 years old. Since then, she has developed a true passion for transmitting projects that evoke strong sensations and feelings in the public. Since moving to Australia, teaching has awakened a strong interest in guiding both adults and children to find their own unique artistic voices through the creative practice, exploring a wide range of materials with her students. Ana is currently enrolled in the Diploma of Visual Arts at LaTrobe College of Art and Design in Melbourne, where she resides. As part of the Collective 24, she is constantly inspired by the connection, collaboration and community that art brings to life.

Peeing at a cheap sushi place
“Peeing at a Cheap Sushi Place” is a celebration of not only found objects, but also of those moments that are gone, trivial moments that can be romanticised and frozen in an ephemeral piece of wood that might have a different story of its own. I love maintaining the history of a canvas, seeing its rawness. This work is like those moments when you realise you’re drunk at a bar, or how much you love your friends on a Friday night. It’s yelling that although life is very trivial and pointless, we have these moments that might mean more—at least for us. It’s finding a home in a different place where you’ve never been before and feeling comfortable in your own skin.”
