“Waste is matter out of place. Our society scrambles to collect, repurpose, or hide trash as quickly as it can. But what happens when an object slips outside that cycle? One garbage-collection day I found a crushed can in front of my house—perhaps dropped from the truck, perhaps simply abandoned. I chose to study it, listen for its story, and give it a brief moment in the spotlight before it disappears again.”
