Alexia Shaw

Alexia Shaw is an emerging artist based in Melbourne/Naarm with a focus on two-dimensional mediums, working primarily in oil paints and digital photography. Fascinated by the idea of the “in-between”, Alexia creates vibrant, surreal, and often humorous compositions in an effort to capture that which is impermanent and intangible. Dreamscapes, gender-fluidity, liminal spaces – Alexia explores how these ideas both reflect and inform our own self-perception as they try to untangle what it is exactly that lies within a cross-fade. Their work has been shown at fortyfivedownstairs and featured in Happy Mag.

Felicity

Oil paint on canvas, 2026.

30.5 × 30.5cm

$100 unframed

Dressed to the nines for a night on the town, Felicity is a personality without a "person" to go with it. A humorous take on gender dysphoria and how it feels to exist outside the gender binary, Felicity is inspired by the ones who may not be girls but who still want to go to girls’ night. A camp, blob-like anomaly, Felicity doesn't quite fit in. But if they're going to stand out, at least they look damn good doing it.
